August 2025: Monthly Wrap-Up
As a lover of all things fall, I always get excited when the calendar changes from August to September. Despite the fact where I live is currently in the middle of a heat wave, I am feeling the autumn spirit! I can’t wait to start reading lots of autumnal, cozy, and spooky books.

Before we get into what I’m hoping to read in September though, I have to review all the books I finished in August! I read lots of mystery/thrillers this month (obviously I struggle to keep the fall vibes from seeping into the summer 😅). My favorite of which was Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson. I have such mixed emotions when it comes to Jackson’s books. I always have such a fun time reading them – but the endings always disappoint me!
Some other highlights from my August reading list include Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green, Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher, and The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I feel like I’ve become John Green myself, having to hold back facts that relate everything in my life to tuberculosis. And while I’ve enjoyed all T. Kingfisher novels I’ve read, Nettle & Bone is by far my absolute favorite! I also have so much fun getting lost in a new fantasy series. After reading The Final Empire, I’m excited to delve deeper into Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe.

September TBR:
Starting off in September, I’m excited to read The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I loved Mexican Gothic by this author, and nothing says a good time to me like a multigenerational, spooky, and witchy saga. It sounds like the perfect read to ring in the fall season! I plan to follow that up with another gothic tale I am highly anticipating, A Theory of Dreaming by Ava Reid. I’ve also been chomping at the bit to read V. E. Schwab’s latest novel, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, just waiting for the perfect moment to pick it up. And now that we’re ~officially~ in the fall season, I think that time has finally come. Plus, of course, I have to continue my Mistborn reading with the second book in the series, The Well of Ascension. I’m definitely hoping for lots of 5-star reads this month!

The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

A Theory of Dreaming by Ava Reid

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab
