Mid-Year 2025: Reading Wrap-Up
Hello, world! It feels like it has been a long time since I posted anything here. At the very least, it’s been a long time since I posted a reading wrap-up – long enough that we’re already halfway into 2025! Given how many months it has been since I did review any of the books I read, I thought it best to do one big first-half of 2025 reading wrap-up post. 💥
I somehow managed to finish a whopping 39 BOOKS in the first 6 months of 2025. (I have my long work commute and my public library’s extensive audiobook section to thank). And despite a few overly hyped novels, the majority of what I read so far this year has been great!

Looking over all of my reads, I can definitely see that I’ve fallen head-first into the romantasy genre this year. While I still prefer my fantasy with a side of romance to a romance story in a fantasy world, I’ve got to say that I’ve been enjoying the romantasy genre as a whole. They’re really great books for when you’re craving a heavy dose of escapism (and who isn’t during these trying times?)
After devouring Emily Henry’s Book Lovers last year, I’ve made a point to pick up the rest of her catalogue whenever I get the chance. Which has definitely made her my most read author this year. And so far I have yet to be disappointed! I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!

Looking forward to the rest of the year, I’m hoping to spend more time reading physical books, and specifically queer ones at that. While I adore a good audiobook – and genuinely feel like some books are more enjoyable in that form thanks to amazing narrators – I often find myself relying on them when I’m too mentally or physically tired to do much else. As the first half of 2025 comes to a close, I’ve been making some big life changes that will hopefully (🤞) lead to me having more energy and free-time to devote to reading all the stories sitting pretty on my bookshelves.
I hope 2025 has treated you well so far, and that there is still more wonderful things to come!
