November 2020: Monthly Wrap-Up
Now that it’s officially December, let me be the first to wish you happy holidays! βοΈπβ¨ (Yes, I am more than a little pumped for the holiday season; don’t mind me.)
I don’t know about you, but for me, November flew by! It was a pretty busy month though, so I’m not surprised it passed by so quick. My work has been a little hectic trying to prepare for if our province goes into another lockdown (and with cases the way they are, that’s becoming more and more likely). I’ve also been slightly stressed because I’ve come this close π to being in contact with COVID on multiple occasions these past few weeks (like by mere hours)… So I’m not exactly hyped to go into work lately!
And unfortunately because of how bad the outbreak is in my province, I’m not comfortable travelling home for the holidays, since both my parents are very high risk for severe illness if they contract corona (and who live on the other side of the country). βΉοΈ I’m very lucky though – I live in a lovely house with my wonderful partner, who I’ll be spending the holidays with this year. β€οΈ We’ve put a lot of effort into making our rental feel as homey as we can, and that’s really brightened my mood! Check out this picture of our recently decorated Christmas tree:
For two people whose families don’t really celebrate Christmas (we’re Jewish and Chinese lol), I think we really went all out. π So even though the holidays will look a little different this year, I’m intending to make the most of this upcoming season (and FaceTime my parents loads over the winter break). π₯°
Books Read:
I read 15 books again this month, 7 of which were ARCs! β¨ (I think the reason I managed to read so many is because 2 of them were audiobooks. Side note: I am loving audiobook ARCs!) I’m also very excited to say that almost all of the books I read this month were fabulous. With the exception of a couple titles, most of the books I read this month rated above 4 stars!! ππ«
Seriously, I can’t get over how GOOD the books I read this month were! Two of them were queer f/f romance: Written in the Stars, which is a contemporary Pride and Prejudice retelling, and A Curse of Roses, a historical fantasy novel based on a Portuguese legend. Both of which I highly recommend!
I also finally got around to reading The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black, a favorite in the online book community, and I absolutely loved it! No wonder it’s so popular! π LMAO, I ended up binging it all in a week or so. π (Also, I totally didn’t realize until after that she’s the same author who wrote The Spiderwick Chronicles – I loved those books as a kid!)
Next Month’s TBR:
How was your November?
Are you excited for the holidays this December?
Let me know!
