February 2026: Monthly Wrap-Up
With February being my birthday month, and hosting Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year, it’s always a busy time!
We were fortunate to have a lot of warm weather for the majority of February. Between that and being showered with gifts on my birthday and Valentine’s Day and spending some quality time with my wife and her family for Lunar New Year, I feel like I’m in pretty high spirits for it being the middle of my least favourite season of the year.

(This past week we did finally get the snow storm I had been anticipating all month-long, but having it preceded by such a beautiful warm stint, I don’t feel like I can complain too much.)
My wife took me on a wonderfully relaxing mini-vacation for my birthday where I got to experience lots of nature and have some quality time at the spa. She even took me on a little shopping spree to buy a new book, some loose-leaf tea, and fantastic smelling bath supplies – pretty much all of my favorite things! 😍
I’m now feeling pampered and well loved. The best way to be!

I read a lot of really great, and really mid books in February. I started February in the Valentine’s Day mood, and hungry for more Bridgerton after finishing Part 1 of the latest season, so I started the month by reading both Eloise and Francesca’s novels… And quickly remembered why I took a break after reading the first four Bridgerton books. 😅
I followed those up by reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, which I loved. I was in the mood for an emotionally-charged, thought-provoking novel, and was so satisfied reading The Midnight Library. Sometimes you need a good tear-jerker, and this novel absolutely satisfied that craving.
After reading a couple mystery/thrillers (one of which I enjoyed and one of which I absolutely did not), I found myself on gothic romance kick, and read both of the Bronte sisters’ Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre for the first time. Both of which I thoroughly enjoyed!
Media Watched:

Wuthering Heights

Bridgerton (Part 2)
With all the hype around the new Wuthering Heights adaptation, my wife and I felt like we had to go see it… And it sure was something. Let’s just say there was a lot of laughing in in the theatre, and not always when it was intended by the director. For more of my thoughts on this movie, check out my book-to-movie comparison post.
Luckily, Part 2 of Bridgerton quickly followed later this month. As always, Bridgerton not only lived up to the hype but surpassed the precedent set by the book. Was it a little ridiculous? Absolutely. Did it completely melt my heart anyways? Of course. I adored Benedict and Sophie’s romance. 💕 This might have been my favorite Bridgerton season yet, which is crazy because Benedict’s book is my very least favorite of the novels.

Next Month’s TBR:

Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy

Get Over It, April Evans by Ashley Herring Blake
After reading so many history fiction novels this past month, I’m feeling like starting March by reading something a little bit more modern. With Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy winning Book of the Month’s Lolly (Book of the Year) Award, I’m thinking it might be finally time to pick up this book that has been staring at my from my TBR for a good long while. I also have Ashley Herring Blakes latest novel, Get Over It, April Evans, which arrived for me during the month of February, on my list of anticipated reads for the month of March. Besides that I’m leaving my options open, though I am starting to crave starting another fantasy series… It’ll just depend on which one I end up picking up!
How was your February?
What books are you looking forward to reading this March?
