Wrap-Ups

July 2020: Monthly Wrap-Up

July looked very different for me than it normally would, as I’m sure it did for all of you. One of my favorite parts of the summer is getting to lay out on a sandy beach and read a good book with the sound of waves lapping on the shore in front of me. However, with everything going on, I’ve had to limit those sorts of escapades this year.

I still got out a little bit however (while remaining safely socially distanced)! I spent some time sunbathing and BBQing in my backyard (as a substitute for relaxing beach-side) and even managed to explore some nature by doing a 10KM backcountry hike. ๐Ÿ”

The most exciting news from this past month is that my partner and I adopted a new kitten!! ๐Ÿฑ He’s incredibly adorable, but requires a lot of attention. So, if you’ve been wondering why I haven’t been posting as much this last week, or taking forever to answer comments, that’s why. ๐Ÿ˜…

I hope you all are managing to make the most of your socially isolated summer as I have tried to! The silver lining to all this quarantining is that I’ve had WAY more free time than normal to spend reading, and because of that I’ve managed to read more books than ever (and even found some new favourites). ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ž

Books Read:

I managed another 13 BOOKS this month!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Between self-isolating and book blogging I am On A Roll when it comes to reading~

My favorite book by far this month was The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi. ๐Ÿ˜ If you’re into historical fantasy, found family dynamics, a rag-tag group of misfits, and heists – this is the book for you! I can’t wait to read its sequel The Silvered Serpents, which will be published later this year. (I managed to get myself a e-ARC of it via NetGalley, so I will definitely be reviewing both books in this series soon!) โค๏ธ

Next Month’s TBR:

On the ARC front, I’ll be focusing my time on reading Fable and Happily Whatever After this month, as well as listening to the audiobook of The Switch (thank you NetGalley!) So look out for those reviews, as they will be posted within the coming weeks.

The book club I’m a part of over on Instagram is reading Red, White & Royal Blue together as our next BOTM and I’m super looking forward to that one. As well, I’m hoping to finish The Lunar Chronicles, a YA series I started in July, by reading the final instalment, Winter, on my own this month.

The Month in Book Reviews:

I definitely wrote less reviews this month than the one previous, but that’s to be expected (I was hyped up on starting my blog and ended up writing sooo many last month, haha).

I’ve also heard the dreaded ~Blogger Burnout~ rears its ugly head usually a couple months into blogging, so I’ve been preparing for that… I’ve tried to draft a few different posts up in case that does happen to me; so there should still be semi-regular content coming to your screens curtesy of yours truly. ๐Ÿ˜Š

How did the month of July pass for you?

What books are you hoping to read in August?

Let me know!

Gilded Wolves is one of my favorite books, I’m SO excited for the sequel to be released! I’ve been wanting to reread The Lunar Chronicles. It’s such a fun series. My month was productive as far as reading, too. I hope August is just as good for you! Also, you’re kitten is so cute!! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Woaaah 13 books, you’ve done so well! And I see that most of the books you read, you enjoyed as well yay ๐Ÿ’— I totally agree about the blogging burnout thing. I always seem to be on a roll for a good few months then suddenly start getting drained of both ideas and the motivation to blog, so I end up taking super long hiatus. ๐Ÿ˜ญ It’s inevitable but I hope you don’t get too burned out when you do encounter it!

Yeah, I’m definitely I little nervous about getting burnt out… especially now that real life responsibilities like work and school are starting up again… ๐Ÿ˜“ But all we can do is remember how much we love blogging and try to carry on!
