June 2020: Monthly Wrap-Up & Thoughts After One Month of Blogging
It’s already been my first month of blogging (well, give or take a few days) – hard to believe it passed by so quickly!
I actually made this blog because I found myself with more time on my hands than usual – not only was I socially distancing because of Covid-19, but my partner was also dog sitting for her sister, so I was stuck at home, alone for the first time in what felt like a very long time.
I’ve always loved reading. When I was a teenager, I used to borrow as many books from the library as they would let me. Carry the whole pile around with me everywhere I went as I quickly made my way through each one of them. Then go back to the library soon after to swap them out for even more. Yes, I was definitely a nerd, haha. I still am! 🤓📚✨
But as I grew older and headed off to college, I found I got busier, my priorities shifted, and I had a lot less time for reading than I used to. This saddened me. So much of who I was when I was younger was tied to the books I read at the time.
Ever since then I’ve been trying to read more, playing catch up on all those books I never had the chance to read. Finding out what new titles are available. There are so many books out there, I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface reading them.
Making this blog was in part a way for me to motivate myself to get back into reading more, and another part a way for me to celebrate all I have been able to read – and to make a few book-loving friends while I was at it!
I’ve read more books this month than any other, and I think a big part of that was because of this blog. It has been such a huge motivation for me! Other months I might not be able to manage to read as many, haha, but I think that’s okay.
This is my first time ever in my life writing book reviews (though I’ve read them for a long time), and I think it’s been going really well! Starting this blog has reignited my passion for reading, and reminded me as to why I loved it so much for so long.
In one short month I have now not only a blog dedicated to books and my Goodreads where I post reviews, but I also started a Bookstagram and a Twitter! (I even joined a group reading of The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins over on Instagram!) And still so, so many books left to read…
I can’t wait to see what the future brings~ 💗

Congratulations on your first month! I started my book blog with the same thought: to motivate myself to read more, and to give myself something to do while social distancing. it has been so fun, and I’ve made so many cool new friends!

Wow you’ve done so well last June! 15 books is a lot!! And I agree with you about how blogging really ignites our passion for reading because I found myself being more immersed in books after I started blogging, and I realized it added more to my reading experience. I’m so glad you’ve decided to start blogging. I wish you and your blog more success in the future~ 💓
